Charted Structural Engineer

10+ years of experience

Candidates will need to be a Chartered member of IStructE and must have gained good design, project and team-running skills in UK consultancy. They should be technically strong and able to represent the consultancy at external meetings with Clients and Sub-Consultants as well as being a capable mentor for more junior staff.

Projects: Commercial, Domestic, Educational, Residential, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Structural design and detail for residential, commercial and industrial projects, produce 3D design models, feasibility studies, inspections, surveys and reports.
  • Management and delivery of projects alongside the team of technical staff.
  • Line management duties to supervise and develop employee’s skills.
  • Liaising closely with Architects, Clients, Contractors, Developers and other professionals.
  • Preparation and review of fee quotations for new projects.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10+ years industry experience within the UK or reaching retirement.
  • Experience of working for a smaller practice and successfully and efficiently managing projects.
  • A high level of competency using Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and other structural design related programmes.
  • Competency to design in a range of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and within time constraints to efficiently deliver projects/reports on time and within budget.
  • The capacity to think creatively and in new ways by challenging the ‘norm’ to produce innovative engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to develop the business by introducing new clients and expanding the workload.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and use of a car is essential.
